While older units may have either the entire serial number on all the major parts, or the last 4 digits of it on parts than the receiver, the one that counts is the numbers on the receiver. Not sure if this will be any help, as all information I have is sketchy, if not contradictory. I hope someone with an extensive 101 knowledge will jump in and clear up the confusion that I am about to relay.Winchester web site says they introduced the 101 in 1963.Gun Trader's Guide shows the 101 was made from 1963 to 1981.I have reference material that shows the following: MODEL 101 SHOTGUN - Over/Under, break open shotgun made in Japan by Olin-Kodensha from 1963. Serial numbers begin with 'K'.One could assume the 'K' stands for Kodensha. Here is where it gets weird. The Blue Book of Gun Values shows a chart for 101 serial numbers. It begins in in the year 1959 and ends with the year 1971.It shows they began making them in October of 1959, starting with serial number 50,000.The last record begins in May of 1971, beginning with serial number 145,000.It's possible that either; 1.

Production started in 1959, but they were not released for retail until 1963, or 2. The serial number chart is totally wrong.Clear as mud? Wow, that's a big discrepancy from the seller's early 80's guess! I'll go back to him to see what his basis for this was. Does anyone know if there were any changes in the guns over time that would help differentiate between them?Does anyone have a 101 that they bought new and would be willing to share approx serial number and year purchased?

Could start putting together a bit of a timeline if we could get some data from original owners (although it won't be exact for manufacturing date, it will approximate). Here are some serial #s and dates that the guns were purchased or given as gifts from Olin to relatives and family friends:#57xxx - 1963#86xxx - 1965 Presentation gun/Gift to Dad from Olin-Mathenson#104xxx - 1967#109xxx - 1967 Custom shop presentation gun delivered Feb.68#141xxx -1971I have these guns with their paper work. Also have # 117xxx that I believe to be from 1968 and # 144xxx that I believe to be from 1971. The gun numbered #144xxx was a gift to my uncle.CAUTION: Things may appear closer in the rear view mirror!

Hi guys, I just registered onto your site and I may be able to shed some light on the 101. My father in law, who passed away 24 years ago, purchased a 101 in Japan. The serial number is K145561.

He was stationed in Japan from 1968 to 1977. The Winchester data base shows that number coinciding with 1967-1968. My mother in law just told me about rifles that he had in the attic.

You can download melodies to your computer or directly to your phone using WAP or QR code. Bangla software download for nokia n70. Get them in an easy and convenient way! The convenient search system and an opportunity to listen music online allows you to choose the rington you like the most.

They/we live in California. In the attic I found a pristine 101 in a case that hasnt seen daylight in 24 years. Inside the case was a registration card from Yokosuka Japan for Jan 20 1972.

It seems tht the registration log through Winchester is correct. Let me know what you think. G'day All,Been following this thread as I've just acquired a Winchester 101 XTR Trap (in Sydney, Australia) which had ALL the original documents in the case.

It's in 12 gauge, 30' barrels with interchangeable chokes, and ejectors. This is is a little unique as the timber work is French polished from the factory (not oiled or lacquered). The other thing that is a little different, is that all the engraved scroll work on the blued surfaces are gold inlayed, however all the engraved scroll work on the silver surfaces are not infilled.

This post quite a few years behind the original. I have a 101 I acquired this year ( 2015 ) for a song, well well below current selling price. I have been trying to figure out what year it was made and like many, referring to Blue Book dates of mftg abruptly ends after 71. This gun has gorgeous wood and looks to be almost new, 98/99%( a 12 ga / 28 in ) #K163XXX as in Model70guy's post the serial # is preceded by a 'K'.

Anyhow one of the Gents posts would seem to pretty closely date my gun around 73, just what I suspected. I'm in my mid 60's now, but 73 would be the year I just had to have an O/U so I went down and bought a Citori without even looking at the 101's, which was in my mind, but would of required driving a few cities farther to look at one.

They are a beautiful gun. I still have the 20 ga Citori, and kind of wish this 101 was a 20 ga as well, however glad I came across this deal. I would like to know what the 'K' represents assuming most guns are without a letter prefix.

Winchester Serial No Lookup

Interesting that I came across this post while trying to find out when my own 101 was made. I tried looking up serial numbers and the most complete list I found was the NRAs. Yet, even they only had numbers up to 1971 for the 101. The serial numbers went up to the 200,000s. My 101 number is 303.

Winchester Serial Number Search

There is no K or PK before the number. According to the records NRA has, it should. As usual I have more questions now than I did before. Hopefully someone knows something and can help me out here. Maybe the information I provided can help someone identify their own gun.
